I've tutored hundreds of students over the past 12 years. I enjoy tailoring the experience to the individual student's interests so lessons are more memorable and applicable for future use. I take great pride in helping students find their own "aha" moments, and will always look for creative ways to engage students while leveraging tutoring best practices.

I believe that the most effective teaching method is unique and tailored to the individual, especially in one-on-one settings. I enjoy meeting my students and helping them improve their SAT scores by building their mastery of and confidence in the material. I specialize in SAT math.

On average, my students have improved their grades by 2 levels and SAT scores by over 200 points. I pinpoint what a given student's areas of trouble are, and empower them by providing practice problems that help them gain a better understanding of each topic, in order to help them not just solve each problem, but also understand every aspect of it.

Everyone starts at a different baseline when taking the SAT, so it’s important to take a diagnostic test to see where you’re at. Give yourself 60 minutes and take a practice test - if you book a session with an SAT Gooroo tutor, we’ll provide the materials and proctor the test for you. We’ll then assess areas of improve, whether it’s specific math topics, or a time management issue.
Once you’ve identified areas of improvement with your Gooroo tutor, it’s time to practice, practice, and practice. However, what’s just as important as practicing is going over questions you’ve answered incorrectly and asking yourself what went wrong. Don’t settle for making the same mistake twice - your Gooroo tutor will identify common errors and walk you through the content you need to know to answer questions and explain strategic ways to avoid those errors, whether it’s based on a careless mistake or the wording of a tricky problem. Take time to write about and reflect on the reasons behind your mistakes.
These are the formulas that will be given to you on the day of the test (shown below). While you should familiarize yourself with them and know what they mean, they’re not super important to memorize. Instead, memorize formulas related to algebra (slope, quadratic equation), trigonometry (how to find the sine, cosine, and tangent), percentages, probability, and how to find averages. Geometry formulas that are good to know include finding the length of an arc and arc sector.
Gooroo provides students and parents with a Personal Learning Consultant for all test prep subjects. Whether your focus is on math, reading, writing, or all of the above, your PLC and your SAT Gooroo tutor work together to give a diagnostic test that assesses your strengths and weaknesses, and then creates a study plan personalized for you to reach your SAT goals within your timeline.
