Use diagrams and mnemonicsTo break down complicated processes and interactions in biology, it’s helpful to draw it out. This could apply, for example, to the steps of the Krebs Cycle or mitosis. This is also a quick way to quiz yourself, to see if you can remember the concept. It’s also helpful to memorize a mnemonic that summarizes the interaction at hand. For example, “King Phillip Came Over From Great Spain” is a great way to memorize taxonomy order (kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, species). Other tools that will help you instill your learnings include online videos, songs, flashcards (especially for all the terminology), and explaining the concept back to your biology tutor.

Ideally, try to study and review your textbook and notes a small amount every day instead of cramming last-minute, especially when the material is still fresh in your mind.
