The overall of objective is to raise awareness of mind wellbeing issues around the world and to mobilise efforts in support about it. It is a day for sharing, listening, and advocating. In today\u2019s blog, we\u2019ll discuss what it means to be mentally healthy. Plus, share some tips on how to take care of your mind.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-what-is-mental-health\">What is Mental Health?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Being mentally healthy doesn\u2019t mean you don\u2019t have a mental health problem. Instead, it means you can:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>make the most of your potential<\/li><li>cope with life<\/li><li>play a full part in your family, workplace, community and among friends<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Ultimately, your mental well-being is just as important as your physical health.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Life is unpredictable: sometimes we feel down or stressed or frightened. Usually, these feelings pass. However, sometimes they develop into a more serious problem. The health of our mind is always changing, growing, reacting, and adapting. There is a stigma about mental illnesses and problems, but it\u2019s healthy to know and say how you\u2019re feeling!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"709\" height=\"443\" src=\"https:\/\/gooroo-blog.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com\/2021\/10\/07055336\/marcel-strauss-fzqxoFJytiE-unsplash.jpg\" alt=\"mental health matters\" class=\"wp-image-2548\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gooroo-blog.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com\/2021\/10\/07055336\/marcel-strauss-fzqxoFJytiE-unsplash.jpg 709w, https:\/\/gooroo-blog.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com\/2021\/10\/07055336\/marcel-strauss-fzqxoFJytiE-unsplash-300x187.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 100vw, 709px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"h-problems-with-well-being\">Problems with Well-Being<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Mental health problems range from universal worries to serious long-term conditions. Those with the later can still experience life to the fullest, especially if they get help early on.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The symptoms of these problems divide into tow categories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><em>Neurotic:<\/em> severe forms of \u201cnormal\u201d emotional experiences such as depression, anxiety, or panic.<\/li><li><em>Psychotic:<\/em> interfere with a person\u2019s perception of reality.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>1 in 6 people in the past week experience a common mental health problem. Additionally, anxiety and depression affect 1 in 10 people at any given time. Remember, getting help is the first step. Don\u2019t be afraid to be honest with your feelings.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"h-good-mental-health\">Good Mental Health<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember, being mentally healthy does to mean the absence of a mental illness. Check out these practical tips!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li><strong>Talk about your feelings. <\/strong>Having emotions is not a sign of weakness. Instead, talking about them is part of keeping on top of your wellbeing. Sometimes, just being listened to is the support we need.\u00a0<\/li><li><strong>Keep active. <\/strong>Exercise release chemicals in your brain that make you feel good. What\u2019s more, regular movement boosts your self-esteem and improves your sleep.\u00a0<\/li><li><strong>Eat well. <\/strong>We need a range of nutrients to keep our bodies functioning. Superfoods, like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gooroo.com\/blog\/grow-spinach-and-other-veg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">spinach<\/a>, are wonderful at providing those much needed vitamins and minerals. Also, don\u2019t forget to drink plenty of water!\u00a0<\/li><li><strong>Keep in touch.<\/strong> Us humans are social creatures. Therefore, having a support network of people you care about keeps you grounded and helps you to solve practical problems. It\u2019s worth working at relationships that make you feel loved or valued.\u00a0<\/li><li><strong>Ask for help. <\/strong>If you\u2019re feeling overwhelmed, reach out to the resources available to you. Use local services to help your with your actionable problems.\u00a0<\/li><li><strong>Take a break. <\/strong>A change of scene or pace is excellent for you mental health. What a break actually is varies moment to moment and person to person. Sometimes, you need to be active while other times it means doing nothing at all.\u00a0<\/li><li><strong>Do something you\u2019re good at. <\/strong>Enjoying yourself decreased stress levels and boots your self-esteem. Concentrating on a task like gardening, or <a href=\"http:\/\/courses.gooroo.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">learning a new skill<\/a>, helps your forget your worries for a while and change your mood!\u00a0<\/li><li><strong>Accept who you are. <\/strong>It\u2019s healthier to accept you\u2019re unique than to wish you were someone else.\u00a0<\/li><li><strong>Care for others. <\/strong>Friendship is a symbiotic relationship.
