Plus, we\u2019ll guide you through how to create such as the magnificent bow tie knot.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-history-of-the-knot\">History of the Knot&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A knot is an intentional complication in cordage for practical or decorative reasons (or both). Decorative knots include any that are used in art work. A combination of practical and decorative would be accessories like jewellery, ties, and bow ties: while the knot has aesthetic value it also stops the item from falling off the person wearing it. Practical knots, however, are classified by function, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Hitch: <\/strong>a fastening of a rope to another object.<\/li><li><strong>Bend:<\/strong> a fastening of two ends of a rope to each other.<\/li><li><strong>Loop Knot:<\/strong> any knots creating a loop.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Splice:<\/strong> any multi-strand knot, including bends and loops.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A knot also refers to a stopper or knob at the end of a rope to keep that end from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gooroo.com\/blog\/mend-your-wardrobe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">slipping through a hole<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Knot tying skills have been past down for generations. Especially, by professions and hobbies such as: sailors, scouts, climbers, canyons, cavers, arborists, rescue professionals, stagehands, fishermen, linemen, surgeons, and bow tie enthusiasts. But, how do we do it? Let\u2019s start by looking at the dapper bow tie.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Hang the bow tie around your neck.<\/li><li>Pass the longer end through the neck loop.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Then, pass the shorter end to the right.<\/li><li>Make a <a href=\"https:\/\/courses.gooroo.com\/courses\/valentines-day-origami-heart\/1045\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fold<\/a> in the shorter end.<\/li><li>Take the longer end down.<\/li><li>Start folding the lower end.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Pass it through the loop.<\/li><li>Pull the back sides of the 2 loops.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The bow tie knot is made!<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"h-other-types-of-knots-you-should-know\">Other Types of Knots You Should Know<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol><li><strong>Square Knot.<\/strong> A type of end knot, this tie is useful for securing bundles and packages. What\u2019s more, it secures bandages around wounds to stop the bleeding quickly.<\/li><li><strong>Bowline. <\/strong>One of the most important to know for emergency situations! Unlike the bow tie, the bow line forms an open loop that is easy for someone to grab onto and be pulled up out of a dangerous location.<\/li><li><strong>Sheet Bend.<\/strong> Best for trying topes of different materials together, its name comes for its traditional use of a holding a sail in place.<\/li><li><strong>Two Half Hitches.<\/strong> This knot ties a rope to a post, such as a tree, or a ring.
